2023 2nd busiest year ever at Columbus airports

COLUMBUS – Thanks to the addition of new nonstop routes and a continued resurgence in post-pandemic travel. Columbus airports saw their second-highest level of passenger traffic ever in 2023.

A total of 8.7 million passengers traveled through John Glenn Columbus International Airport and the Rickenbacker Passenger Terminal, a 12% increase over 2022, officials reported Thursday.

New routes announced last year, including nonstops to Orange County, Fla.; Minneapolis, Salt Lake City, San Diego and Kansas City brought the total number of nonstop destinations to 53, the most ever to passengers traveling from Columbus, Joseph Nardone, president and CEO of the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, said.

The 8.9 million passengers served during the pre-pandemic year of 2019 was the highest volume on record at Columbus airports.
