Help available for tornado victims

COLUMBUS – Six federal damage assessment teams traveled to Ohio Tuesday to look at damage in 11 counties impacted by the deadly tornado outbreak on March 14.

The National Weather Service confirmed nine tornados struck Ohio, including the EF 3 tornado, packing 155 mph winds, that claimed three lives in the Indian Lake area of Logan County.

Red Cross offering financial help to victims

The Red Cross has begun to distribute individual financial assistance to help those who qualify to pay for a deposit on a new apartment, replace lost clothing or other belongings, cover transportation expenses or other urgent needs.

Anyone who would like to apply for assistance can call 1-800-RedCross or meet with the Red Cross at one of these Multi-Agency Resource Centers:

The Multi Agency Resource Centers will be open until March 31, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 8:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m., and Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays 10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.

Financial donations are the quickest and best way to support people impacted by disasters, according to Red Cross officials.

People can make a donation to support Red Cross Disaster Relief by visiting the Red Cross website, calling 1-800-REDCROSS or texting the REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

The Central & Southern Ohio Region of the American Red Cross has received over 140 volunteer
applications since March 15.
