Man who killed wife and burned her body sentenced to life in prison

COLUMBUS – A Madison Township man convicted of murdering his wife and setting her body on fire to cover up the crime has been sentenced to life in prison.

Mamadou Diallo was found guilty on July 19 of two counts of murder, aggravated arson, tampering with evidence and gross abuse of a corpse in connection with the 2021 murder of his wife, according to a release from the office of Franklin County Prosecutor G. Gary Tyack.

Common Pleas Court Judge Stephen McIntosh sentenced Diallo, 43, to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 27 years.

Franklin County sheriff’s detectives say Diallo strangled his 32-year-old wife, Fatoumata, during an incident of domestic violence and set her ablaze in the basement of their home on Noe-Bixby Road on Sept. 30, 2021, according to Franklin County Sheriff Dallas Baldwin.

Mamadou Diallo will be required to register as a violent offender and an arson offender, Tyack said.
