COLUMBUS – Severe thunderstorms packing high winds that knocked down tree limbs and power lines woke central Ohioans with loud thunderclaps before dawn on Saturday.
Severe thunderstorm warnings were posted by the National Weather Service for Grove City, London, West Jefferson and Washington Court House as well as several locations in western and southwestern Ohio.
More than 5,000 AEP Ohio customers remained without power in Franklin County Saturday morning, including the southwest and northwest sides of Columbus, the utility reported.

Several trees were reported early Saturday.
No injuries were reported.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch for central and western Ohio was canceled after the storms subsided early Saturday morning.
Fayette County, southwest of Columbus, was hard-hit with several trees reported knocked down throughout the county, including within the city of Jeffersonville after a storm on Friday brought down trees in the Mt. Sterling area.
