2 dead in stabbings

COLUMBUS – A suspect is in custody in one of two separate stabbings that left two women dead.

Khayir Lock, 19, will be taken to the Franklin County Jail on a murder charge when he is released from a hospital where he was being treated for injuries suffered in a Friday night stabbing on the Southeast Side that left Selena Edwards dead, Sgt. Edward Powell III of the Columbus police Homicide Unit said.

Officers dispatched to the 4000 Block of Refugee Road at approximately 8:13 p.m. on the report of a stabbing found the 19-year-old Edwards and Lock suffering from stab wounds.

Edwards was pronounced dead less than an hour later by Madison Township paramedics, Powell said.

Lock was taken to a local hospital and was listed in stable condition.

The investigation is continuing and police did not release information about what led to the incident or how Lock sustained his injury.

Just before 4:00 Saturday afternoon, officers responding to a reported stabbing in the 2000 block of Iuka Avenue found Emily Foster, 77, suffering from a stab wound, according to Sgt. Michael Smith.

She was pronounced dead at 4:01 p.m. by Columbus Division of Fire paramedics.

Police did not know what motivated the stabbing, Smith said.

The investigation continues.
