COLUMBUS – Three shooting incidents in Columbus, including one that involved police officers, left two people dead and several injured in the early hours of Saturday, police said.
A man and a woman were killed in the shootings, which occurred in the Short North, South Linden and German Village over a span of barely two hours.
At approximately 2:40 a.m., Columbus police officers were responding to a shooting in the 600 block of North High Street when more shots were fired a short distance away from the original location, a Division of Police spokesman said.
Multiple officers discharged their firearms.
One gun was recovered.

Multiple shooting victims between the two scenes have been located, and Columbus homicide detectives and state Bureau of Criminal Investigation agents are trying to determine which incident each victim was tied to, police said.
One victim is in critical condition and the others are in stable condition. All victims are adults, police said.
The BCI is investigating the officer-involved shooting.
Five people, ranging in age from 21 to 63, were shot, one fatally. at a location in the 1400 block of St Clair Avenue less than an hour later.
Officers dispatched to the scene at 3:31 a.m. found several individuals inside the home suffering from gunshot wounds, according to Sgt. Edward Powell III of the homicide unit.
Taylin Roland, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene by Columbus Division of Fire personnel at 3:41 a.m.
Three other women and a man were taken to hospitals and are expected to survive, Powell said.
Two women inside the home were not injured. Neither was a 63-year-old man whose home was also struck by gunfire, Powell said.
Keith Pleasant, 29, was charged with murder, six counts of felonious assault and discharge into a habitation, Powell said.
UPDATE 5/8/23 8:58 a.m.: Police say Keith Pleasant died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on the night of the incident. Pleasant and Roland were in a relationship and lived together at the home, Division of Police Chief Elaine Bryant said Monday.
At 4:41 a.m., officers dispatched to the 500 block of E. Whittier Street on a reported shooting found David Davis, 36, suffering from a gunshot wound, Sgt Michael Smith said.
Davis was pronounced dead at a hospital at 5:05 a.m., Smith said.
UPDATE 5/8/23 7:08 a.m.: Isaac Clark, 34, of Columbus, has been arrested on a murder charge in connection with this incident, which stemmed from an argument.
