2 deadly shootings in Columbus

COLUMBUS – Two men were killed in separate shooting incidents in Columbus Wednesday afternoon.

Detectives are looking for a man who reportedly gunned down the owner of a Southeast Side carryout, according to Sgt. Scott LeRoy of the Columbus police Homicide Unit.

Officers dispatched to Mike’s Carry Out and Grocery, 1436 S. Hamilton Road, at 1:52 p.m. found Vijayakumar Nair suffering from gunshot wounds. The 55-year-old Nair was taken to a local hospital where he died just before 2:30 p.m., LeRoy said.

A man was seen fleeing the scene in a red sedan (Temporary lic. no. Q739484) immediately after the shots were fired, LeRoy said.

A 30-year-old man was found shot to death in South Linden about three hours later, police said.

Derrius Morgan was found by officers responding to a reported shooting at 2206 McGuffey Road at approximately 4:49p.m., Sgt. David Harrington said.

Morgan died later at a hospital, Harrington said.
