2 juveniles killed in campus area crash

COLUMBUS – Two juveniles were killed and five other people were hospitalized when the car the juveniles were riding in ran a red light and collided with another vehicle near the OSU campus area late Saturday night.

Five juveniles were riding in a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze when it failed to stop for a red traffic light at the intersection of Carmack Road approaching W. Lane Avenue and crashed into a 2023 Honda HR-V at
approximately 11:17 p.m., Sgt Scott Soha of the Columbus police Accident Investigation Unit said.

The Cruze was traveling northbound on Carmack Road when it struck the
subcompact SUV, which had entered the intersection traveling eastbound on Lane Avenue, Soha said.

The two minors were pronounced dead at the scene at 11:33 p.m. by responding emergency medical units.

Three other occupants from the Chevrolet and the driver and passenger from the Honda were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries and were expected to survive, Soha said

No other information about the victims was released and the investigation is ongoing, Soha said.
