COLUMBUS – Two juveniles were killed and two other people were hospitalized when they were struck by a vehicle while crossing the street at a South Linden intersection Saturday night.
An adult pedestrian and three juveniles were crossing Cleveland Avenue westbound at the E. 25th Avenue intersection in the crosswalk at approximately 7:08 p.m. when they stopped in the roadway at the southern side of the intersection, detectives with the Columbus police Accident Investigation Unit said.
A 2011 Hyundai Accent was traveling northbound on Cleveland Avenue approaching E. 25th Avenue when the vehicle struck the pedestrians in the left lane.
All four victims were taken to hospitals but two of the juveniles died later at Nationwide Childrens Hospital.
The adult suffered significant injury and was transported to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center in critical condition but was later upgraded to stable, police said.
The third juvenile pedestrian was listed in critical condition.
The driver and passengers of the Hyundai were not injured in the traffic crash.
The Accident Investigation Unit responded and initiated an investigation which is ongoing.
