COLUMBUS – A 3-year-old boy who was abducted while playing outside was recovered safely, according to Whitehall police.
Aiden Rodrigo was the subject of an Amber Alert after he was taken by a woman while he was playing in the front yard of a home in the 900 block of 967 Elaine Road and put into an SUV at approximately 5:15 p.m., according to information contained in the alert.
He was recovered and the alert was canceled just before 9:00 p.m.
WBNS 10-TV reported the woman was the child’s mother.
Child recovering from gunshot wound
An 11-year-old boy is recovering at Nationwide Chlidren’s Hospital after being accidentally shot inside a home in the Marion-Franklin neighborhood early Saturday.
Police say the child was sleeping downstairs at 4:01 a.m., when a family member accidentally discharged a firearm in the kitchen, sending a bullet through the floor and hitting the boy in the left arm, Sgt. Doug Jones of the Felone Assault Unit said.
The child was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in stable condition and is expected to survive, Jones said.
Man found shot to death
UPDATE 3/17/23 7:42 a.m.: Police have identified a man who was found shot to death inside a home on the South Side earlier this month as Richard Carr, 62.
Officers called to the residence in the 1800 block of Lockbourne Road on a report of a shooting at approximately 3:46 p.m. found the man inside suffering from gunshot wounds, police said.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending positive identification by the Franklin County Coroner’s Office and the notification of his family. He is described as being 55 to 65 years of age.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are unknown, police said.
