COLUMBUS – The Buckeyes earned a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament and will face No. 15 seed Maine in the first round at Value City Arena.
Ohio State (25-5, 16-2) is the second seed in the Portland region and will host first and second-round games on Friday and Sunday.
No. 7 seed Duke and 10th-seeded Richmond will face each other in the other first round game.
South Carolina is the tournament’s top overall seed, along with Big Ten champion Iowa, Texas and USC.
This is the 15th time Ohio State has been selected as a top-four seed and its first time as a #2 seed since the 2010 NCAA Tournament.
Last season, Ohio State made its first Elite Eight appearance in 30 years, defeating James Madison and North Carolina at the Schottenstein Center and OSU knocking off second-seed UConn in the Sweet 16.
