NEW YORK — A couple of former Buckeyes joined Caitlin Clark as first-round picks in the WNBA draft.
Jacy Sheldon (above left) was selected fifth overall by the Dallas Wings and Celeste Taylor (right) was taken with the 15th pick in New York Monday night.
Taylor will join Clark and last year’s No. 1 pick, Aliyah Boston, on the roster of the Indiana Fever.
Sheldon is one of 10 semifinalists for the Naismith Trophy, given to the nation’s best men’s and women’s players, and one of five finalists for the Nancy Lieberman Award, given to the best point guard in women’s basketball.
Taylor was one of the four finalists for Naismith Defensive Player of the Year was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year by the conference’s coaches.
Clark became a household name among basketball fans during her record-breaking college career at Iowa.
