Columbus man convicted of raping 3 minors

COLUMBUS – A Columbus man could spend more than a decade behind bars after being found guilty of raping three minors over a seven-year period.

John Allen, 47, was convicted Thursday, following a four-day trial in Franklin County Common Pleas Court,  on six charges, including three charges of rape, for assaulting the three children, who were described as acquaintances by Franklin County Prosecutor G. Gary Tyack.

Allen was also convicted on two charges of sexual battery and one count of sexual imposition, Tyack said.

Allen attacked his first victim in 2012 and his second in 2013.

A third victim, who was assaulted several times between 2017 and 2019, came forward and reported the attacks to authorities in 2021, Tyack said.

Allen faces a 15-year prison term when he is sentenced by Judge Carl Aveni on Dec. 8, Tyack said.
