Columbus police unveil new true crime video series

COLUMBUS – True crime documentary series and podcasts are among the most popular forms of popular entertainment and the Columbus Division of Police is taking advantage of the trend with a series of new videos detailing unsolved homicides.

“The Unsolved Cases” is a digital-only video series that will take a deeper look at ongoing cases using never-before-heard interviews with detectives that could bring new evidence to light or possibly lead to the arrest of a suspect.

The new video series will be released on the Division’s social media platforms on a bi-monthly basis.

The first installment, which dropped Wednesday, deals with the case of Lante Hughes a 23-year-old man police say was well-loved by family and friends and has dreams of becoming an entrepreneur, but was found shot to death while sitting in a vehicle parked at an East Side apartment complex on August 6, 2021.

The only clues left for investigators were an SUV riddled with bullet holes and a car seen speeding away from the scene.
