COLUMBUS – Couples who want to tie the knot on Valentine’s Day can start reserving their spots at Franklin County Municipal Court.
Municipal judges will perform weddings between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. in courtroom 14A on the 14th floor of the Municipal Courthouse, 375 S. High Street. Walk-ins are welcome but court officials say they will be taken on a “first-come, first-wed” basis, court public information officer Jodi Andes said.
Couples can schedule their appointments at the Court’s website under “weddings.”
Couples must bring a marriage license with them, which costs $65. Marriage applications can be started online, but couples must appear together in person to complete the process at the Franklin County Probate Court, 373 S. High Street, 23rd Floor. Applicants are welcome Monday through Friday, starting at 8:00 a.m. The last walk-in of the day is at 4 p.m.
Couples must also pay a $25 filing fee before the ceremony at the Municipal Court Clerk’s cashier’s window on the 3rd floor the Municipal Court building. Cash, money order, check, cashier’s check, and credit card payments are accepted.
There is no additional fee for the judges to conduct the ceremony.
In 2023, judgers performed a record 97 wedding ceremonies.
