HOUSTON – Alex Matan’s goal gave the Crew a 1-0 win in the first leg of the Concacaf Champions Cup Round of 16 against Houston Dynamo FC at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston Wednesday.

Matan scored the right-footed goal scored with from the left side of the box after taking a pass from Aidan Morris in the sixth minute of stoppage time.

Goalkeeper Patrick Schulte recorded four saves to earn the shutout, his first clean sheet in his first Concacaf Champions Cup match.

Dynamo keeper Steven Clark stopped four shots on goal.

This was the first time in club history that the Crew beat an MLS opponent in CONCACAF competition.

The Crew returns to MLS regular season action Saturday when the Chicago Fire FC visits Lower.com Field (7:30 p.m.).
