Day lures new RB coach from Oregon

COLUMBUS – Ohio State head football coach Ryan Day has hired Carlos Locklyn, who has spent the last two seasons at Oregon, to be the Buckeyes’ new running backs coach, replacing Tony Alford, who departed for Michigan.

Under Locklyn’s guidance, the Ducks have ranked in the top 30 nationally in rushing yards per game the past two seasons, finishing as high as No. 12 in 2022.

He will face his former employer on Oct. 12 when the Buckeyes travel to Eugene to take on Oregon in their first season as members of the Big Ten.

Locklyn also coached collegiately at Western Kentucky, Florida State and Memphis.

A native of Montgomery, Ala., he began his coaching career as the offensive coordinator at four Memphis-area high schools.
