DeWine tests positive for COVID-19

COLUMBUS – Gov. Mike DeWine was resting at home Wednesday after testing positive for COVID-19, according to a state released by his office Tuesday evening.

DeWine began experiencing mild cold symptoms Tuesday and, believing he had a head cold, he continued with his workday routine, spokesman Dan Tierney wrote in the statement.

As the day progressed his symptoms worsened and he reported having a 101-degree fever when his doctor advised that he take a COVID-19 test, which was positive, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Tierney said.

“The current strain of Covid-19 can present itself with symptoms much like a head cold. Governor DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health advise testing yourself for COVID-19, even if you think you have only a minor cold,” DeWine said in the release.
