COLUMBUS – The state is investigating a shooting involving a Columbus police officer who killed a suspect who was threatening them with a broken bottle on the South Side early Saturday.
UPDATE 8/8/23 10:41 a.m.: Police have identified the deceased suspect in this shooting as Zachary Logan Bryson, 27.
When an officer responded to a disturbance in the area of S. High Street and Rowe Road at approximately 1:11 a.m., the suspect charged at the officer with a broken bottle and the officers fired their weapon, striking the suspect.
The suspect was taken to an area hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead at approximately 1:55 a.m., according to a release from the Columbus Division of Police.
No officers were injured.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is investigating the officer-involved shooting.
Man dead in East Linden shooting
A 21-year-old man was killed in a shooting in East Linden early Saturday morning.
Officers called to a reported shooting in the 2400 block of Marcia Drive at 3:20 a.m. found Chrishon Fisher suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, Sgt. David Harrington said.
Fisher was pronounced dead at the scene, Harrington said.
It is still not determined what led up to the shooting, and the incident is under investigation, Harrington said.
