Suspect in January double shooting arrested

Police have arrested the man they say shot two people in a vehicle on the Southeast Side in January, killing one of them.

Leon Mason, 22, was charged with murder and felonious assault in the shooting, which left Deangelo Williams Jr. dead and a woman injured, Sgt. Dave Harrington of the Homicide Unit said.

Officers found Williams, 23, and the woman in a vehicle which had crashed into several parked vehicles in the 2400 block of Kimberly Parkway shortly after midnight on January 28, Harrington said.

Williams died of his injuries the following day and Mason was arrested without incident by Critical Response Team officers on Tuesday, Harrington said.
