COLUMBUS – Buckeye wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. was named a finalist for college football’s most prestigious award, the Heisman Trophy.
Joining Harrison in New York when the winner is anno9unced Saturday will be LSU’s Jayden Daniels, Oregon’s Bo Nix and Washington’s Michael Penix Jr.
Harrison Jr. was named the Big Ten’s 2023 Offensive Player of the Year and Wide Receiver of the Year last week.
He is tied for second nationally with 14 touchdown receptions and his eight 100-yard games this season is an Ohio State school record, as is his streak of eight consecutive games with a touchdown reception.
Ohio State has a record-tying seven Heisman Trophy winners, starting with Les Horvath in 1944 and including the only two-time winner, Archie Griffin. The most recent Buckeye to claim the honor is quarterback Troy Smith in 2006.
