“Heart of it All” signs go up on roadways into Ohio

COLUMBUS – Ohio is once again “The Heart of it All” and soon visitors will know it as soon as they cross the state line.

The new signs were made in the Ohio Dept. of Transportation sign shop in Columbus. (Ohio Dept. of Transportation)

Signs bearing the new slogan are being installed at major entry points since Gov. Mike DeWine and the Ohio Department of Development announced earlier this year the state was reviving the tagline, which was served as its tourism slogan between 1984 and 2001.

“There is endless fun, excitement, joy, and adventure here in Ohio, but our state is more than just a travel destination. There is no better place to live, learn, work, and play, and now, everyone who crosses into Ohio will know that they’re entering the ‘Heart of it All’,” DeWine said.

In total, 36 new signs were made by the ODOT sign shop in Columbus at a total cost of $59,990.

The largest signs, measuring more than 40’ wide, will be hung on the arch that spans I-70 at the Indiana border in Preble County.

The 233 million visitors who traveled to Ohio last year spent $53 billion, a 13 percent increase over 2021.

All 36 signs are scheduled to be installed by December, ODOT officials said.
