Man pleads guilty to 2021 murder

COLUMBUS – A man who pleaded guilty to killing another man during a robbery attempt in 2021 has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.

Elias Malone entered the guilty plea to a murder charge of with a firearm specification before Franklin County Judge Colleen O’Donnell Monday, who handed down the sentence immediately, according to a press release from the office of Franklin County Prosecutor Gary Tyack.

The charge stemmed from an incident in January of 2021, when Tristan Foor was lured to a home in the 4900 block of Aspen Pine Boulevard where Malone, 22, short him to death during a robbery attempt.

Police said Foor, 22, was invited to the home Malone shared with Sydney Freshour. Malone confronted Foor, pulled a gun from his waistband and shot Foor once, Tyack said.

Foor fell down the steps to the front door of the home and Malone followed, shooting him multiple times in the head, chest, shoulder and back, Tyack said.

He left the scene but returned and admitted to detectives to shooting and killing Foor, police said.

Freshour, 20, turned herself in to police earlier this month and was indicted on April 22 on charges of murder, aggravated robbery, robbery, kidnapping and tampering with evidence, Tyack said.
