COLUMBUS – Columbus police have released little information about a fatal stabbing Friday night in the Southern Orchards neighborhood.
UPDATE 8/2/23 7:57 a.m.: The victim in this incident has been identified as James Cummings, 61.
Officers dispatched to the 600 block of E Stewart Avenue just before 11:15 p.m. on the report of a person being stabbed arrived at the scene and found an unresponsive man suffering from several stab wounds, according to Sgt. Edward Powell III of the Homicide Unit.
The man, whose name has not been released, was taken to a hospital in critical condition and died at 11:40 p.m. despite receiving lifesaving medical treatment, Powell said.
