COLUMBUS – Ohio State women’s basketball head coach Kevin McGuff and five of his players have earned post-season honors from the Big Ten.
McGuff was named Coach of the Year for the first time in his career after leading the Buckeyes to a 25-4 overall record, a 16-2 conference record and a league-leading 16th regular season championship, Ohio State’s first outright title since the 2009-10 season.
Graduate guard Jacy Sheldon and sophomore forward Cotie McMahon were named to the All-conference First Team.
Sheldon, a Dublin Coffman High School product, ranks in the top 10 in the Big Ten in scoring, steals per game, free throw percentage, field goal percentage and assist/turnover ratio.
McMahon is averaging 14.1 points per game and a team-high 6.4 rebounds per game this season, while totaling five double-doubles and 23 double-figure performances. The 2023 Big Ten Freshman of the Year has 953 career points and 384 career rebounds.
Celeste Taylor and Taylor Thierry were named to the All-Big Ten second team and Taylor was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year by the league’s coaches. Rebeka Mikulášiková as an All-Big Ten honorable mention.
Ohio State is the No. see in the Big Ten women’s basketball tournament, which begins Wednesday in Minneapolis.
