COLUMBUS – The westbound lanes of I-70 through the downtown split will reopen ahead of Monday morning rush hour, Ohio Department of Transportation officials said Sunday.
UPDATE 1/7/24: I-70 westbound lanes have reopened.

Crews carried out emergency repairs to damage caused when a semi hauling a large excavator struck the 4th Street overpass Saturday afternoon, damaging at least one beam supporting the deck of the bridge, ODOT spokeswoman Hannah Salem said.
The westbound lanes of I-70 and the ramps from I-71 southbound, state Route 315 northbound and 4th Street to I-70 were also closed.
Westbound traffic is being detoured north on I-71 and west on I-670.
Kokosing Construction planned to use a salvaged beam from the recently demolished Front Street bridge to serve as a brace supporting the damaged section of 4th Street and additional structural bracing will also be installed under the bridge, Salem said.
