COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio State plans to freeze all costs for in-state undergraduates next year.

University President Michael Drake made the announcement Thursday, according to the Columbus Dispatch.
Tuition and mandatory fees for in-state undergraduates have been frozen at about $10,000 since the 2012-13 school year (see table below), and will remain at that level next year.
Room and food costs will also remain at $11,700 for students living on campus. The university says a freeze in those costs hasn’t happened for at least 40 years.
Drake says the freeze allows the university to provide financial relief for nearly 80 percent of its students who are from Ohio. He says Ohio State is a leader in college affordability, but can do even more.
The plans are contingent on approval from the Board of Trustees in June.
