COLUMBUS – An 18-year-old man is in jail, charged with murder in the death of a 15-year-old girl on the West Side.
Kevin Jesus-Lopez was arrested in the murder of Maria Fernanda Guerra-Sandoval, who was found Monday in the 4700 Block of Sullivant Avenue, detectives with the Homicide Unit said.
Jesus-Lopez was taken to the Franklin County Jail.
There was no information immediately available on how Guerra-Sandoval died or what led up to the incident.
North Linden shooting victim dies
A man who was shot while sitting in a car at a Northeast Side store last month has died, police said.
Travis Rush died Friday at Riverside Methodist Hospital from injuries suffered when he was shot while sitting in a vehicle at a Family Dollar store in the 1400 Block of Oakland Park Avenue early on March 25, Sgt. Edward Powell III of the Columbus police Homicide Unit said.
Rush’s girlfriend told police they were in their vehicle at approximately 12:16 a.m. when they heard a loud bang and realized the 46-year-old man had been shot, Powell said.
They transported Rush to the hospital.
The Homicide Unit will take over this investigation and Powell says anyone with information is asked to call 614-645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS (8477).
