COLUMBUS – Police are investigating a fatal shooting on the Northeast Side while also searching for a suspect wanted for murder after the death of a man nearly a week after he was shot on the Southeast Side.
Officers responding to a report of a man lying on the ground in the 2900 Block of Sandridge Avenue just after 3:30 p.m. Monday found Shermaine Upshaw suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, Sgt. Dave Harrington of the Columbus police Homicide Unit said.

Clinton Township paramedics pronounced the 44-year-old Upshaw dead at the scene, Harrington said.

Police are searching for a 26-year-old man who has been charged with murder after a man he allegedly shot early on the morning of Aug. 12 died six days later, Harrington said.
Ismaiyl Hipps (correcting spelling of suspect’s first name) is accused of shooting Anthony Davis in the 2400 Block of Daily Road just before 1:45 a.m. on Aug.
Davis, 31, died on Aug. 18 and detectives issued a warrant for Hipps’ arrested on a murder charge, Harrington said.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Ismaiyl Hipps is asked to call the Homicide Unit or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers.
