Rahm, Day, Matsuyama join Memorial field

DUBLIN – Officials with the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday have announced that world No. 1 and reigning Masters champion Jon Rahm will be at Muirfield Village Golf Course to compete in the 48th edition of the tournament.

The Memorial Tournament is scheduled for May 29-June 4 at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin.

Rahm will be joined by 2015 PGA Championship winner Jason Day, 2021 Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama, and the 2013 Masters winner Adam Scott.

Rahm has been ranked No. 1 in the world for a total of 52 weeks since first ascending to the position after winning the 2020 Memorial Tournament. He was forced to withdraw from the Memorial in 2021 after testing positive for COVID-19 while leading the tournament.

Day, a Columbus resident, is coming off a win at last week’s AT&T Byron Nelson, his 13th career PGA Tour title, and first since the 2018 Wells Fargo Championship.

Matsuyama captured his first career PGA victory at the 2014 Memorial Tournament, where he became the tournament’s youngest winner at 22 years, 3 months and 7 days old. In 2021 Matsuyama became the first Japanese male to win a major championship with his victory at the Masters Tournament.

Scott has collected nearly $2.2 million in 14 starts at the Memorial Tournament. The Australian native’s best finish at Muirfield Village came in 2019 when he was runner-up to Patrick Cantlay.
