Saints 8, Clippers 1

ST. PAUL, MINN. – Alex Isola and Yoyner Fajardo hit a pair of three-run homers to give St. Paul a lead the Clippers could not overcome in the Saints’ 8-1 win in the delayed season opener for both clubs.

Friday’s scheduled opening game was postponed due to wet grounds at CHS Field.

The home runs and a double by DaShawn Keirsey Jr. off Columbus starter Will Dion (0-1) gave the Saints a 7-0 lead after five innings.

Daniel Schneemann drove in the Clippers’ only run with a double
in the seventh.

Reliever Randy Dobnak (1-0) struck out six hitters to get the win for St. Paul.

The two teams wrap up their series Sunday afternoon before the Clippers head to Huntington Park to host Omaha in their home opener Tuesday night.
