Highway shooting incident detours concertgoers
Police say road rage led to a shooting on a Columbus interstate Saturday afternoon that forced authorities to detour traffic headed into Historic Crew Stadium and the Ohio Expo Center for a concert and graduation ceremonies.
At approximately 3:25 p.m., officers were dispatched to northbound I-71 and E. 11th Avenue on a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, the officers found a 41-year-old man who was suffering from a gunshot wound and was transported in stable condition to a local hospital, where he is expected to survive his injuries, Sgt. Doug Jones of the Felony Assault Unit said.
A 32-year-old woman was in the line of fire but Jones says she was not struck by gunfire.
The shooting happened as traffic was headed to the Sonic Temple Art and Music Festival. The road was temporary for an hour and a half while police investigated the incident.
