COLUMBUS – Two teenagers were shot while driving on I-70 on the East Side Sunday night in an incident that kept the freeway closed for several hours during the initial investigation.
Two 18-year-old men and a 17-year-old boy were riding westbound on I-70 near S. James Road just before 9:30 p.m. when the vehicle was struck by gunfire, according to Sgt. Mark Eickholt of the Columbus police Felony Assault Unit.
Officers found the 17-year-old and one of the older victims suffering from gunshot injuries. They were taken to an area hospital in critical condition but Eickholt says both are expected to survive their injuries
The second 18-yer-old was inside the vehicle but not struck by the gunfire, Eickholt said.

Nine shot in downtown Cleveland, one man seriously wounded
CLEVELAND (AP) — Authorities say an early morning shooting in a nightclub area of downtown Cleveland Sunday sent nine people to the hospital, but no fatalities were reported.
Police say they think someone opened fire toward a group of people at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday in the Warehouse District as clubs were closing. The suspect apparently fled.
Chief Wayne Drummond of the Cleveland police department says seven men and two women between the ages of 23 to 38 were shot.
He says one of the men was seriously wounded while injuries to the others were minor.
No arrests were immediately reported.
