Trump campaigns for GOP Senate candidate Bernie Moreno in Ohio

VANDALIA (AP) — Former President Donald Trump claimed that he — not President Joe Biden — will protect Social Security and warned of a “bloodbath” if he loses in November as he campaigned for Senate candidate Bernie Moreno in Ohio.

The appearance came one day before in-person early voting comes to an end ahead of Tuesday’s primary in the state.

Trump, speaking on a wind-whipped airfield outside of Dayton Saturday, praised his chosen candidate in the race as an “America first champion” and “political outsider who has spent his entire life building up Ohio communities.”

Moreno faces Secretary of State Frank LaRose and state Sen. Matt Dolan in Tuesday’s GOP primary.

Polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19.

What’s at stake

Both Trump and President Joe Biden surpassed their respective parties’ delegate threshold to become the presumptive nominees for the November presidential election last week.

Other primaries on Tuesday’s ballot include 15 Congressional races, including the 6th Congressional District special primary.
