COLUMBUS – Two people are dead in shooting incidents at a South Side apartment complex and a West Side Greyhound terminal Sunday.
Homicide Unit detectives say a man was seated in a gray sedan in a parking lot in the 200 block of Buffalo Court on the South Side just before 5:00 p.m. when he was approached by an unidentified man and the two had a brief conversation, Sgt. James Marable of the Homicide Unit said.
A third man approached, an exchange of gunfire took place and the man in the car drove off, crashing into a tree line where officers responding to the reported shooting found him at 4:57p.m., Marable said.
UPDATE 10/11/23 6:30 a.m.: The deceased victim has been identified as Jashua Watts, 32 and detectives have charged Aaron Beamon, 20, with murder for causing his death, Marable said.
The third man who approached the scene was found in a nearby apartment and was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The man’s condition was later upgraded to stable, Marable said.

At approximately 11:14 p.m., officers dispatched to the Greyhound Bus terminal in the 800 Block of N. Wilson Road on the Hilltop on the report of a shooting found an unidentified man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, Sgt. Dave Harrington said.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
UPDATE 10/11/23 6:31 a.m.: The victim in this shooting has been identified as Rhy Jones, 42, Harrington said.
Security personnel at the scene detained Jibril Kim until he was taken into custody by responding officers. The 26-year-old man was charged with murder, Harrington said.
Suspect in July homicide arrested in Cleveland
Two men have been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in the University District in July that left a 23-year-old man dead, Sgt. David Shimberg said.
David Allen, 20, was arrested on Oct. 3 and taken to a Cleveland jail where he is awaiting extradition back to Columbus to face charges in connection with the July 28 shooting of Nasier Reid during a fight in the 400 block of Tompkins Street, Shimberg said.
Jakai Watts, 21, was also arrested for his role in the incident, Shimberg said.
Man sentenced to 24 years to life for deadly hotel shooting
A former Dayton resident was sentenced to 24 years to life in prison for the 2021 murder of a 42-year-old man during an argument at a Northeast Side hotel in 2021, according to the office of Frankl County Prosecuting Attorney G. Gary Tyack.
Bruce Cameron, 51, was sentenced on Oct. 5 by Franklin County Common Pleas Court Judge Kim Brown after being found guilty on Sept. 28 in the death of Dion Skipper on April 4, 2021.
Cameron shot and killed Dion that night after the two men got into an argument in the parking lot of the Norwood Inn & Suites near I-71 and Dublin-Granville Road.
Brown, who presided over Cameron’s trial, found him guilty on the additional counts of aggravated robbery and having a weapon under disability. Cameron received 18 years to life for the murder charge with a gun specification and an additional six years for the aggravated robbery charge with a gun specification.
The gun specification charges added a mandatory three-year sentence to each of the sentences for the underlying charges.
