Wolfe Foundation gives $50M to OSU Wexner Medical Center tower

COLUMBUS – The foundation established by the family of the former publisher of The Columbus Dispatch has agreed to donate $50 million commitment to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s new hospital tower, set to open in 2026.

The commitment by the Robert F. Wolfe and Edgar T. Wolfe Foundation is among the largest gifts ever made to the medical center, university officials said.

If the university’s board of trustees approves, two areas inside the tower will be named the John F. Wolfe Lobby and the Wolfe Foundation Crossroads to recognize the gift.

John F. Wolfe, publisher of The Dispatch and served as chair and CEO of The Dispatch Printing Company was a civic leader who made an impact on projects across Columbus. He was instrumental in the construction of the original James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, which opened in 1990.

The 1.9 million-square-foot, 24-story inpatient tower is the single largest facilities project undertaken at Ohio State and will house up to 820 private rooms and 51 neonatal intensive care beds.
