COLUMBUS – A 24-year-old woman will serve at least 15 years in prison for the murder of a man on the West Side more than two years ago.
Franklin County Common Pleas Court Judge Mike Holbrook Thursday sentenced Teona Brooks for the 2021 murder of Maurice Porter, Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney G. Gary Tyack said.
Brooks shot Porter, 39 in the back of the head on July 22, 2021, while they were in the yard of an abandoned property in Franklinton.
Brooks was eventually arrested in Chicago and pleaded guilty to the charge of murder.
Holbrook issued a sentence of 15 years to life, crediting Brooks with 533 days she already has served, Tyack announced.
