DUBLIN – Artificial intelligence could be coming to a drive-thru near you.
Wendy’s plans to launch a pilot using Google Cloud’s AI technology in a Columbus-area restaurant next month.
“Google Cloud’s generative AI technology creates a huge opportunity for us to deliver a truly differentiated, faster and frictionless experience for our customers, and allows our employees to continue focusing on making great food and building relationships with fans that keep them coming back time and again,” president and CEO Todd Penegor said.
The Dublin-based chain says the chatbot will use data from Wendy’s menu, established business rules, and logic for conversation guardrails to understand made-to-order requests and generate responses to frequently asked questions from customers.
A Wendy’s employee will monitor the AI-powered drive-thru and customers will have the option to speak with a human if the AI can’t get their order right.
