COLUMBUS – An 18-year-old man is behind bars on a murder charge in connection with a deadly shooting at a Northwest Side apartment complex Tuesday morning.
Manuel Perez-Cajete was arrested Wednesday in connection with the murder of Gilbert Contreras-Ramirez
at the Island Club Apartments, Sgt. Michael Smith of the Columbus police Homicide Unit said.
Officers dispatched to the 2300 block of Antigua Drive at 10:18 a.m. found Contreras-Ramirez, 38, suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:57 a.m.
The motive behind the shooting is unknown and the investigation continues, Smith said.
