COLUMBUS – A man charged in the shooting death of a 16-year-old girl on the West Side Tuesday reportedly told authorities the shooting was an accident.
According to media reports, Tejuan Stanley told police he didn’t know the gun was loaded when he pointed it at the girl and the weapon went off in an apartment in the 700 block of W. Rich Street just after 12:45 p.m.
Elisha Judd was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Sgt. Edward Powell III of the Columbus police homicide unit.
A description of Stanley was aired and the 20-year-old man was apprehended and questioned a short time later, Powell said.
Stanley charged with reckless homicide and taken to the Franklin County Jail, Powell said.
Suspect in March murder arrested
Columbus SWAT officers and homicide detectives have arrested a suspect in the March 11 shooting death of a 62-year-old man on the South Side.
Tayvion Taylor, 21, was arrested without incident on the East Side Tuesday and taken to the Franklin County Jail, police said.
Taylor was a suspect in the fatal shooting of Richard Carr inside a home in the 1800 block of Lockbourne Road.
