Learn to make 4 classic tequila cocktails with Brown-Forman

Mix 107.9

Pete Wagner, Tequila Ambassador to Brown-Forman for the State of Ohio, presented the Mix Studio Bar with an array of cocktails made with el Jimador and Herradura tequilas just in time for summer. Classic drinks are making a comeback and that keeping a recipe simple is key to any great cocktail. Since more people are staying at home, they’ve begun exploring classic drink recipes, which has made tequila sales increase. Plus with the start of pool and patio season, summer cocktails are trending. Did you know that you can replace a lot of standard spirits in classic drinks with tequila? For example, you can swap vodka drinks with the brightness of el Jimador silver. Or try making an old-fashioned with Herradura Añejo instead of whisky. Herradura and el Jimador tequilas are readily available where most alcohol is sold. Check out the videos below where Pete teaches you to make four classic cocktails using the tequila featured during this Mixology, including the paloma, classic margarita, an old fashioned, and the Jalisco tea party. Please remember to drink responsibly.

el Jimador Silver Paloma

  • 1.5oz el Jimador Silver Tequila
  • 1 oz Grapefruit juice
  • Sparkling water

Measure your ingredients using a jigger for best results. Measure your tequila and pour it into a highball glass followed by the grapefruit juice. Fill the glass with ice and add a splash of sparkling water. Garnish with grapefruit wheel and enjoy!

Herradura Silver Classic Margarita

  • 1.5oz Herradura Silver Tequila
  • 1oz Lime juice
  • .75oz Orange Liqueur

Measure your ingredients using a jigger for best results. Measure and pour the tequila, lime juice, and orange liqueur into a shaker or tumbler. Add ice and shake until you start to get condensation on your shaker. Prep the final glass by rimming the lip of the glass with a lime wedge. Add salt to the rim if you prefer. Add ice to the glass and strain drink ingredients into the glass. Add a wedge of lime for garnish and enjoy!

Herradura Añejo Old Fashioned

  • 2oz Herradura Añejo
  • .5oz Simple Syrup
  • Angostura bitters

Measure your ingredients using a jigger for best results. Measure and pour the tequila, simple syrup, and a dash of bitters into a shaker or tumbler over ice. Stir the ingredients until you start to see frost on the glass. Strain your drink into a glass of ice. Rim the glass with the oils from an orange peel, then drop the peel into your drink as a garnish. Enjoy!
