Get ready to embrace the Oktoberfest spirit by donning your lederhosen and dirndls because Scmhidt’s Columbus Oktoberfest is here! Join us at the Ohio Expo Center from September 8-10 for an unforgettable experience. Carla Epler and Matt Schmidt from Schmidt’s recently paid a visit to the Mix Studio Bar, extending a warm invitation to all Mix 107.9 listeners and their families.
During their visit, Carla, Matt, and your host Greg Hansberry delved into the exciting lineup of beers that will be flowing at the festival. You can look forward to savoring brews like Left Coast Brewery’s Tangerine, Hofbrau Dunkel, Paulaner Oktoberfest Marzen, and the beloved Pumpkin Jack Cider from McKenzie’s. But that’s not all; the Oktoberfest will feature an array of other delightful beers that will surely tantalize your taste buds.
The Columbus Oktoberfest promises an array of activities to keep you entertained throughout the festival. With three stages boasting a diverse entertainment lineup, opportunities for dancing, bier halls brimming with a variety of brews on tap, a charming wine garten, a dedicated kinderplatz for the little ones, the chance to meet the newly crowned Ms. Oktoberfest, and a bustling marketplace, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Rain or shine, the event will go on, thanks to the 100,000 square feet of covered pavilion space. So, there’s no excuse not to join us. Plus, admission is FREE, and parking is available for just $12. The best part? The entire event is cashless for your convenience!
The festivities kick off on Friday night at 5 pm with “First Responders Friday,” where a portion of the proceeds will support the Qfm96 Red, White, & Q Fund. On Saturday, the festival runs from noon until midnight, and on Sunday, it opens at noon and wraps up at 8 pm. Make sure to leave room for a delectable cream puff or, better yet, witness Mix Mornings’ Andre Styles defend his title during the thrilling “Stuff The Puff” Cream Puff Eating Contest on Friday night!
If you’ve been following the Ms. Oktoberfest contest buzz throughout the entire month of August, the exciting news is finally here…Congratulations to Gabby Rigol, the well-deserved champion of the 2023 Ms. Oktoberfest competition!
Please indicate why you feel you would be a good ambassador for the Columbus Oktoberfest: I would be a good ambassador for Oktoberfest because I represent both the Columbus community and German roots. One thing I love about Columbus is that it strives to bring together and celebrate different cultures. I love learning about other cultures, and I’d love the opportunity to share my family’s culture with Columbus! My Oma and Opa came to the United States from Germany in the 1950s. They worked hard to maintain their German traditions, and they blended German culture into every aspect of our lives. I came to love these little things that made my family unique—especially our hybrid English/German/made-up language. As an adult, I’ve found that many of my friends don’t know a lot about their families’ histories, so I’m grateful to have such a strong connection to mine. I would be honored to share it (and beer and pretzels!) with the rest of Columbus as Ms. Oktoberfest.
