As a community partner of the Columbus Metropolitan Library, the National Veterans Memorial and Museum is celebrating their 150th anniversary by offering free admission to the Museum when you show your library card. For the month of June, we’ll have programming in recognition of the 75th Anniversary of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act. This act, signed by President Truman on June 12, 1948 allowed women to permanently serve in the regular armed forces.

Stop by the Museum to learn more and engage in the following activities:

  • Female Leadership Scavenger Hunt (earn a challenge coin when you complete the hunt!)
  • Coloring pages based on artwork designed by U.S. Navy Veteran and artist Kristin Cronic
  • Question prompts and scavenger hunts for our latest exhibition, A Midshipman’s Journey by Kristin Cronic
  • Writing letters thanking Veterans for their service

On Saturday, June 24, Judy Pearson, U.S. Air Force Veteran and Ohio ambassador for the Military Women’s Memorial in Washington, D.C., will have a display in the Great Hall of the Museum. Judy will talk about the Memorial and share stories of women’s roles in the military throughout our nation’s history.
